How to Build a Macaron Dessert Table for Your Wedding
The dessert table has replaced the traditional wedding cake for a lot of couples — and for good reason. It's more visual, more interactive, more varied, and frankly more fun than gathering everyone around a tiered cake at 9pm.
Macarons anchor the best dessert tables we've seen. Here's exactly how to build one.
The Foundation: How Many Macarons?
Plan for 2–3 macarons per guest if macarons are the primary dessert. 1–2 per guest if you're serving them alongside a wedding cake or other sweets.
- 50 guests → 100–150 macarons
- 100 guests → 200–300 macarons
- 150 guests → 300–450 macarons
- 200 guests → 400–600 macarons
When in doubt, order slightly more. Leftover macarons freeze well and make excellent morning-after breakfast.
Color Strategy
Pick 3 shell colors that match or complement your wedding palette. A monochrome table (all ivory or all blush) is elegant. An ombre (light to dark in the same color family) is dramatic. Mixed colors in a careful arrangement is festive and playful.
Give us your wedding colors at least 2 weeks in advance for custom color matching.
What to Pair With Macarons
Macarons are rich and small — they pair beautifully with lighter desserts that provide textural contrast:
- Mini meringues
- Fresh fruit (strawberries, figs, grapes)
- Petit fours
- Chocolate truffles
- Mini cheesecakes
- Candied nuts
Display Elements
- Tiered stands: Create height and visual interest. Mix heights across the table.
- Macaron tower: A cone-shaped tower as the centerpiece. The ultimate showpiece.
- Loose arrangement: Macarons piled on platters or in wide bowls. More informal, easier for guests to grab.
- Signage: A flavor map card or small tags at each platter helps guests choose. Adds personality.
Delivery and Setup
We deliver and set up macaron orders for weddings throughout the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and Western Massachusetts. We handle arrangement on-site so nothing gets jostled in transit.
Favor Boxes on the Table
One popular touch: individual 2–4 macaron favor boxes arranged at one end of the table for guests to take home. They double as a party favor and reduce end-of-night leftovers.
